Just throwing my opinion out there

I'm not one to follow anything to do with professional football or sports in general. I'll watch an occasional football game here and there and mostly watch the superbowl because it's a socialization time with friends or family and to catch the really funny commercials and half time shows. Recently over the last several weeks because JD and I are mostly in the living room taking care of Donovan, the television is almost always tuned in to the sports networks and always highlighting what went down in sports. I've come to notice that Tim Tebow is always in everyone's mouth lately, meaning that he is always the subject of discussion and it always seems to be negative press or something to the effect that most people are tired of hearing about him.

While i don't really care one way or another every time i hear his name, i actually find it quite nice for a change that a NFL player is recognized mostly for his faith and his religious practices during or after a game through his actions or while he speaks to the media. Since when did having a good role model become something that was a negative thing? We are always hearing about these athletes who are getting busted for drugs or DUIs or some sort of sex scandal. Can't we allow one public figure to set the example for our children and let them know it's ok to practice their beliefs or exemplify "Christ-like" behavior through their actions?!?!

I for one can't believe we would punish our youth for these types of mimicked behavior (ex. hearing that there were students who were suspended because they knelt down on one knee during or after a football game...an action repetitiously portrayed by Tim Tebow during football games) when there are so many ill behaved children in public schools and certainly other behavior requiring more immediate attention.

Christians seem to be under so much heat these days when it comes to standing up for our beliefs or exemplifying our faith. It's not PC to say something to someone of a diverse religion or perhaps if Jewish, Catholic, or Muslim behavior were carried out it would be wrong to say anything against their rights in practice so why should ours be any different? I hope that the current generations now and to come will get a backbone and stand up for our rights and freedom of speech when it comes to their faith.

For now, keep "Tebowing" as they mock you so vividly, Tim! We support you.
