Non-Baby related blog: Sex and the City Prequel

So imagine my raised eyebrow and sarcastic look on my face as I read a magazine that my mom brought to me last night. (She's been taking turns watching my grandfather at the hospital along with her bros. and like most boredom that comes with hours on end in a hospital, she picked up an US magazine or something similar.) She saw that the magazine had several baby related items in it, which is why she brought it to me.

So I'm flipping through the pages and see a short boxed section where they are discussing making a SATC prequel. To my horror, the cast they intend on using are very young actreses in hollywood right now (ex. Selena Gomez - as Charlotte, Blake Lively-as Samantha...are you seeing the horror on my face yet???) Sometimes i scratch my head in amazement as Hollywood is running out of ideas. Now i get that they are trying to do something different. What is rumored to be an HBO series they are trying to make would sort of explain their lives, i assume, before they made it out to New York...from their teen years on to their twenties. Because any true SATC fan knows the last movie shared that the girls moved to NYC in their 20's they obviously don't know each other as they document their lives starting in their teens.

The whole spark behind the show is the relationship between the women, so i'm not seeing how this prequel idea is going to make for a good series, especially if the 4 original ladies are not even in it. Not to mention the show is very sexually driven (all things related to sex, love, and shopping,), and how do you appropriately do that with a cast member who just made it off of the disney channel??? Somehow i just see this being another teeny bopper style of a series(insert light hearted Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants style of show at this point).

I'm sure there's a large possibility i will be eating crow, if and when it hits airwaves and i know i will end up seeing it just to form my own opinion, because how could i not?!?!
