Day 2 post procedure

Day 1 post procedure was a little more daunting than day 2 has been. Since I didn't really get that much sleep (3 hours or so), I pretty much stayed awake when all the hustle and bustle started early this morning. I think one of the cleaning ladies came in at 6ish and was sweeping and tidying the room. Don't get me wrong, i love a clean room, but 6 a.m. ? I think the dust and tidying can be postponed until the slumbering is complete. But i understand she has a boss and a schedule to stick to, so no chastisement upon our dear, young cleaning attendant.

Nurses in, nurses out. Check the temperature, take the blood pressure, emptying the catheter bag, inject more pain meds, shut the freakin' IV machine off for the millionth time...the darn thing beeps and beeps and beeps. It's more stubborn than i have the desire to put up with. Good thing i know where the silence button is until the nurses get there to fix the problem. JD seemed to be out like a light once he received adequate pain medication and additional pharmecuetical cocktails that helped him to rest through the pain.

Since i was no longer sleeping, i decided to catch the early bird breakfast down in the good ole cafeteria. I've been eating my food down in the cafeteria rather than in the room w/JD because i just think that's cruel when a person can't eat anything and it's being rubbed in your face. His diet for the last two days has been ice chips only. I'd be a royal bitch by now if I hadn't eaten anything for 2 days straight. I guess that means JD is far too experienced at this hospital routine. Hopefully it will be the last.

Once breakfast was complete, i came back upstairs to our home away from home and tried to recline and see if I could doze. For some reason, i'm just no good with napping. I guess i need a few more years on me to truly appreciate the activity. Don't get me wrong, i LOVE sleeping, and I mean SLEEPING, not napping! Naps for me have to be strategically executed. If i sleep longer than 20-30 mins. than i'm just no good. It makes me feel like i overslept and i feel worse than i did by being exhausted from no sleep. Not to mention, i end up having a harder time actually going to bed when i should. So i'm really just sitting in the recliner at this point playing with my IPhone.

As i sit wasting time, i realize i had brought stuff to shower and freshen up so i decided to take advantage of the nice accomodations in this lovely facility (note sarcasim). Oh heck, alright...it's not a 4 star hotel, but it's better than some people's bathrooms i've been in.

Fresh and clean an hour later...it's almost time for lunch. By now, we've been visited by multiple hospital staff, and i'm clean just in time for our Dr. to come and give us an overview of his opinion and his expectations. Our Dr. is Greek, mid 30's....quite attractive and very intelligent. My mother-in-law thinks he sounds like Dr. Rey (accent only...not the whiny way that guys talks)from DR. 90210. Dr. V just laughs when she told him this. Visitation was about 15 mins. JD was given new dressings over his newly stitched incision where the stoma used to be. For such an invasive, internal procedure...our doc was fabulous at leaving minimal scarring on JD's abdomen. But chicks dig scars...so JD will always be sexy to me. :)

JD has been sleeping so well, and experiencing minimal itching from the drugs they have been giving him now that he is on a new pain medication. The occasional request to remove those darn hospital leg warmers is made once every hour or so. I'm tellin ya...i'm in dire need of a manicure.

We had a good amount of visitors: my mom, JD's dad, JD's mom, my stepdad & mom came at a later time again, and my Aunt Pat & Uncle Ray made it out to visit. Full day so far.

Seeing as how i've been confined to the 4 walls of this hospital room for 2 days, i have been taste testing the entire menu it seems down in the cafeteria. So far, the dinners never look that appetizing...so i decided to see if I could enjoy a quick bite with my friend Amanda, who i haven't been able to visit with in what feels like months...but really it's only been about 3 of 4 weeks.

We entertained the idea of staying close because the traffic was really bad today and because i needed to try and be back before or by 9. Because we stayed close, choices were more limited. We decided Olive Garden would be a good selection. When i realized i had to circle the parking lot 2 or 3 times and no parking was becoming available, it wasn't looking promising. After entering the restaurant and seeing a sea of people waiting for their table, I called Amanda to let her know 9 wasn't looking good if we ate there. I parked over behind TGI Fridays just to be able and get to Olive Garden because of lack of parking....so we concluded to just eat at TGI's. Service was really slow only because it's a FRIDAY and everyone was out enjoying the start of a new weekend. Whoever said the economy appears to be bad should take note of the many people who dine out on a continual basis, and especially on the weekends. LOL

Dinner was much shorter than i would have wanted it to be, but it's always that way when i'm spending time with Amanda. We can laugh and cut up for hours. Conversation never gets old. That's why these days, my husband is like an egg timer when i go to her house or visit with her if we are out. When i say i'll be back at (insert time), what i really mean is (insert later time)....oh well...it's always worth the time!

Now i'm sitting back in the bat cave...i call it that because JD, i feel ,is a vampire from another time. Doesn't matter if it's at home or not, the man loves a dark room. All lights are off, door's shut, we even put the hospital trash can in front of this light they have beaming in the lower half of the wall. Kinda weird, it just sits 1/4 of the way up from the floor. Not really sure what the purpose is...but our nurses have to practically have night vision to do anything in here. LOL

So i'm sitting by the glow of my monitor in complete darkness writing you this blog because i'm utterly bored and insomnia is lurking around every corner for me lately. I hope that if you've reached the end of this blog, that you are not feeling as though you've just wasted (insert minutes) of your life, now thinking this woman needs a hobby. Hahaha...but in short...these are the days of OUR lives! More to come as JD progresses. (Or i get bored)
