JD went for a final colonoscopy on 11/24/09 to determine if the Remicade has been helping any. Not exactly the ideal occurrence you'd like right before Thanksgiving, but they always seem to schedule him since the last year or so right before this holiday. The outcome did not show any improvement, even with the increased dosages of Remicade that have been administered. JD's doctor feels it's time for him to consider surgery.
We've tried all the protocal necessary to get his UC under control, but nothing has worked for him. We went to his consultation on 11/30 to see a highly recommended surgeon to discuss his procedure. After the time he devoted to us answering ALL of our questions and putting us a bit more at ease about this procedure, JD's locked in a date for his colon to be removed.
Looks like we'll be spending our X-mas in the hospital getting JD a new gift! A J-Pouch...Just what we've always wanted. :) We expect to be at Southeast Memorial Herman from the 23rd-26th. Please keep us in your prayers as he goes through this surgery. The dr. says it's going to take about 8 hrs. to complete the laproscopic procedure, but this will ultimately minimize the amount of time it will take for him to recover.

So sorry to hear that JD's UC hasn't improved. I will keep you guys in my prayers! I hope the surgery makes things better.
Thanks Apryl. We were hoping it wouldn't have to come to this, but at this point...it seems like it's going to be the only way his life will return to any kind of normalcy. We are optimistic and really confident with the surgeon we chose. Will keep you posted as things develop. Thank you for the prayers.
