JD had his consultation with the Gallbladder specialist and it looks like they will plan to take out his gallbladder. Unfortunately, with JD's illness (Ulcertive Colitis), it puts him in a whole different category. Not only will they remove his gallbladder, but they will take a look at the tube (called the bile duct), which runs from the liver to the GB to the intestines. This duct is where the bile transfers from the liver through the gallbladder and then to the intestines.
In UC patients, the condition of their illness can cause deterioration of that duct, which can ultimately lead to other problems even if the gallbladder is removed. Eventually as the UC eats at the duct, it will also start to secrete bile and other toxic stuff into his system. If the Dr. determines his duct is damaged, he will have to be put on a transplant list at this point for a replacement duct. So keep us in your prayers that all goes well and his gallbladder can be removed without further complications.
They also noted that his kidneys need to have a second look because of abnormal circumstances, so he will have to go in for a follow-up MRI to view those organs and make sure all looks good.
